Mr. Blair Bennett
July 15, 1996
Page 4

communications liaison, and reporting will continue to be performed under the auspices of Tasks
100 and 200.

Back in April it had originally been projected that the secondary clearing might be completed by
September I, but given the present date it is now likely that the secondary clearing may not be
finished until October, or early November. Even so, if the project can be initiated soon, the
favorably dry conditions thus far of this summer (with respect to the nature of this project)
should allow for good progress and ready completion. Much longer before getting started and
there is a risk of getting bogged down in wet conditions.

To avoid the difficulties associated with clearing in the wet season, HDR will do everything
feasible to speed this project from initiation to completion. Please call if you have questions
about this report or other related matters, or desire any additional action.

Respectfully submitted,

HDR Engineering, Inc. of North Carolina
Senior Environmental Scientist
