Vivian B. Lord, Ph.D.
571 Bent Oak Trail
Concord, NC 28027

August 23, 1996

Frank Clifton, County Manager
P.O. Box 707
Concord, NC 28026

Dear Mr. Clifton:

As you are aware I am very concerned about the county
commissioners' decisions to stop curbside recycling. As I have
talked to other citizens of Cabarrus County, I have become even
more incensed. Within one day I had approximately 150 signatures on
a petition asking the commissioners to reconsider their decision.
These citizens told me about their inability to receive the
curbside service or the lack of pickup week after week. We don't
have lack of desire in Cabarrus; we have lack of service.

I am requesting to be placed on the agenda of the
commissioners' meeting scheduled September 16th so that I may bring
my petition with all the signatures and with all the complaints of
the citizens who signed it. Because I plan to bring my ten-year
old daughter so she might observe our local government process and
because of her own concern for recycling, I am requesting that I be
placed early on the agenda. She has school the next day.

Sincerely,

Vivian B. Lord
