CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />ADULT DAY SERVICE CENTERS WEEK <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHERE'.S, <br /> <br />there are over 3000 Adult Day Service Centers nationwide and over 80 centers <br />in North Carolina providing a safe and positive environment to partially <br />disabled individuals in need of daytime assistance or supervision; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />adult day service centers provide opportunities for social interactions to <br />otherwise isolated individuals and assist them in attaining and maintaining a <br />maximum level of independence; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these centers are bridging the gap between long-term institutionalization and <br /> independent living; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, adult day service centers provide respite and ease the burden of the familial <br /> caregivers who are providing care at home for their loved ones; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarms County is the home of L.I.F.E. CENTERS, INC., a national model <br /> providing quality care in two locations for this special population of older adults. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jeffrey L. Barnhart, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the laws of the County, <br />do hereby proclaim September 15-21, 1996 as: <br /> <br />ADULT DAY SERVICES WEEK IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />and urge the citizens of Cabarrus County to recognize this event and to participate by paying <br />tribute to the dedicated people who provide this valuable service to older adults. <br /> <br /> INWITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the official seal of <br />the County of Cabarrus this 16th day of September, 1996. <br /> <br />Jeffrey L.
