This team meets
quarterly to review child fatality cases, including those related to abuse and neglect. The
team's purpose is to prevent future deaths by identifying gaps in systems, policies, and
laws that may contribute to child fatalities, to make recommendations for improvements
and remedies, and to help implement selected recommendations, in hope that these efforts
will improve the lives of all children in Cabarms County.

Attached is a graphic display of the number and cases of deaths among Cabarms County
children 1995. The Child Fatality Prevention team successfully promoted a Campaign
sponsored by the Governor's Highway Safety Commission called "The Please Be
Seated" campaign to promote car seat safety for children. Efforts continue as these
Taskforce members come together to review and make recommendations for the safety of
Cabarrus County children.

Eq.al r )~Dort.~dLvi.d]~irrnarivc .tot o,t !Dnpl~C,,er
