IIORIH CAROLINA <br /> <br />To: <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Date: October 7, 1996 <br /> <br />Subject: Coddle Creek Update <br /> <br />The contractor completed the clearing of the area in and around the reservoir at September 30, <br />1996. Terry Gross of DEHNR inspected the project and orally approved the clearing on October <br />1, 1996. The joints on the principal spillway have also been sealed and were in~qpected by Doug <br />Miller of DEHNR and he has given preliminary approval that the repairs are satisfactory. HDR is <br />in the process of installing a staff gauge to measure the height and discharge relationship of the <br />impounded water and will be requesting final approval from Jim Meade of DEHNR by month end. <br />MSA Consuking Engineers will have a draft copy of an operation manual, maintenance schedule, <br />and emergency action plan available by October 11, 1996 with the final copy available by month <br />end. <br /> <br />WSACC has requested James K. Leumas, dam safety engineer with DEHNR, to give us <br />permission for temporary impoundment to an elevation of 650 feet or full pond, considering that <br />all the above factors have been properly addressed. The request for the final permit will soon <br />follow culminating the close ora project that began in 1984 with the first land purchase on the <br />reservoir property. <br /> <br /> Finance Department <br />P~O.
