Comments from school officials and citizens in each area of the County regarding
recreation needs and potential use of each campus for community recreation.
These comments came through public meetings held at each school by Parks and
Recreation Commission members and staff, as well as informed conversations
throughout the County.

Review and comments by administrators and principals.

Schematic drawings (maSter site plans) to reflect potential school/park
development at each site. Woolpert Consultants completed these professional
drawings.

Estimates of probable construction costs for each school/park site. Woolpert
Consultants also completed these cost estimates.

On February 21, 1994 the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners approved a
resolution supporting the School/Park Concept for Cabarms County Schools. The attached
report includes the following for each school/park site: inventory and evaluation of site,
community/school comments/input of preferred recreation facilities, and Master Planning Site
Drawings.

Good communication and joint planning of facilities are the key elements in successful
school/park sites. In the planning of new school/park facilities, the school principal, school
maintenance/builder director, Cabarrus County Manager, Cabal'ms County Area Manager,
Parks/Recreation Director and community leaders will be involved. The proposed master site
drawings are only potential recreation facilities at each school site. We are aware that future
school buildings or claSsrooms would change these proposed master site plans. These master site
plans are preliminary plans to help provide a vision to the community, PTO's, booster clubs,
schools, and recreation associations of the potential leisure opportunities at each school/park site.

The second item requested on the agenda is the proposed memorandum of agreement for
providing coordinated school/park facility planning. This agreement satisfies recommendation of
this approved Cabarrus County School/Park Concept Resolution. Input and recommendations
were also secured from the Cabarrus County/Kannapolis City Boards of Education
Superintendents, Cabarrus County Manager and the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation
Commission.

Thank you for your consideration concerning these proposals.
