ATTACHMENT a

The list of standard facilities is as follows:
Elementary

1. Paved Play Areas 2 (56' x 50') 5600 SF
The surface of this area is marked with shapes, patterns and configurations
for games and activities. Basketball goals may be provided. One area is
designated for K-2, the other for 3-5. the.areas differ only in the types
of patterns and the heights of the goals.

2. Playground Equipment Areas 2 (approx. 35' x 45') 3t50 SF
A single, large multipurpose piece of playground equipment is installed in a
sand filled pit. Two separate areas are provided, one to accommodate the K-2
and the other for 3-5 students.

3. Obstacle CourSe 20,000 SF

- In addition to the multipurpose piece of playground equipment, space should
be provided for individual pieces. These could include balance beams,
climbing ropes, climbing tires, hand rings, horizontal ladders, horizontal
bars, parallel bars, climbers, and suspension bridges. There is some
flexibility in the manner in which these are cited. Pieces can be grouped

_ together in an area adjacent to the large playground equipment, arranged in

clusters, along a fitness trail or as isolated pieces. A safety area with a

--- minimum of three feet of clearance around the equipment should be prepared

with sand. These areas vary with the size of equipment. The average size
- is approximately 600 SF. The standard allows for thirty pieces of equipment.
