ATTACHMENT A <br /> <br />The tist of standard facilities is as follows: <br /> <br />Elementary <br /> <br />1. Paved Play Areas 2 (56' x 50') 5600 SF <br />The surface of this area is marked with shapes, patterns and configurations <br />for games and activities. Basketball goals may be provided. One area is <br />designated for K-2, the other for 3-5. the.areas differ only in the types <br />of patterns and the heights of the goals. <br /> <br />2. Playground Equipment Areas 2 (approx. 35' x 45') 3150 SF <br /> <br />A single, large multipurpose piece of playground equipment is installed in a <br />sand filled pit. Two separate areas are provided, one to accommodate the K-2 <br />and the other for 3-5 students. <br /> <br />3. Obstacle Course 20,000 SF <br /> <br />In addition to the multipurpose piece of playground equipment, space should <br />be provided for individual pieces. These could include balance beams, <br />climbing ropes, climbing tires, hand rings, horizontal ladders, horizontal <br />bars, parallel bars, climbers, and suspension bridges. There is some <br />flexibility in the manner in which these are cited. Pieces can be grouped <br />together in an area adjacent to the large playground equipment, arranged in <br />clusters, along a fitness trail or as isolated pieces. A safety area with a <br />minimum of three feet of clearance around the equipment should be prepared <br />with sand. These areas vary with the size of equipment. The average size <br />is approximately 600 SF. The standard allows for thirty pieces of equipment. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br /> <br />
