While the training standards should not be lowered, the proposal suggests an effort that <br />would involve the Community College system. This involvement would be in the form of <br />developing a course of study that would provide the necessary training to enable a <br />graduate of the program to be employed as a Sanitarian and immediately be effective on <br />his date of employment. <br /> <br />The Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee added the language beginning a_,~er <br />the word "certified." <br /> <br />3. Permitting under the Environmental Policy Act <br />Support legislation to amend the State Environmental Policy Act to accelerate the <br />permitting process conducted through the Division of Water Quality in the <br />Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources, while maintaining <br />environmental safeguards.
