During 1995-96, Cabarrus Count~ received several tracts of land for future parks. Mary
and Harry Brown donated 65 acres to Cabarms County for a park. This land, valued at
,$494,000 was the largest donation Cabarrus County had ever received from one family. Due to a
County-City utilities agreement, the City of Concord conveyed the Lake Concord Reservoir and
340 acres to Cabarms County for development as a public park. The Cabarrus County Board of
Commissioners and Cabarms County Board of Education jointly approved plans for community
utiliTation of the proposed Rocky River School. These proposed parks will provide quality
recreational opportunities for the citizens of Cabarms County.

We wish to express our appreciation for the support and assistance given the Department
by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, Cabarms County Manager, Cabarms County
Parks and Recreation Commission and the public in general.
