Box 387
745 Cabarrus Ave. - W
Concord, NC 28026-0387

Dear Al,

This letter is to officially request placing the area extension
position of Farm Business Management System (FBMS) Extension
Assistant in your office space in cabarrus County. Based on
previous discussions, you indicated that this may be a
possibility.

The person currently in this position is Chris Robinson. He
(this FBMS position) works with cooperating farmers in a 10
county area (which includes Cabarrus) p~oviding assistance with
farm business accounting and analysis, management decisions based
on these complete farm records, and with other business planning
needs_ He also assists other agents and non-member farmers with
management type decisions as his time and schedule permit. We
have found that these agents become extremely valuable to the
county staff in the county which they are located. I have no
reason to expect that Chris will not prove equally valuable to
you folks in Cabarru$ if this arrangement can be worked out.

This move is being ~equested to facilitate the growth and
development of the FBM$ program in your 10 county area. We feel
that your leadership ability and style, and the "coaching or
mentoring" that you could provide would be very advantageous to
the growth of the program. As I mentioned above, I also feel
that the "home" county does reap some benefits as well.

Your providing office space for Chris should not add any direct
cost to your budget. Our department covers all of his travel
expenses, cellular phone, long distance calling card, and other
miscellaneous expenses. Also, if Chris needs to use some of the
"county supplies," etc., should he run out and need them before
he can receive them from Raleigh, we will certainly reimburse you
for such expenses. If there is any costs associated with his
moving in (should that be possible), please let me know and we
will be sure to take care of them.

,.-pl. oym~ and InUgram oppammu~s a~ o~d to all t:~ut~ r~gaulle~s or race. col~x, aaUonal ofi~,. ,~.. ag~ or handi~o.
Nora Ca'olim Rate Univo-sity.
