PRESS RELEASE <br /> <br />DATE: December 15, 1994 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />Becky Crabtree, County Manager's Office <br /> <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE! <br /> <br />CHRISTMAS COMES TO THE GOVERNMENTAL CENTER <br /> <br />Students from 12 Cabarrus County and 6 Kannapolis City Schools participated in the third annual <br />Christmas Tree Decorating Contest sponsored by Cabarms County. A record twenty-one trees <br />were entered this year with several Elementary Schools entering two trees. The trees are on <br />display in the lobby on the first floor of the Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Judging of the trees was held Wednesday, December 14, 1994 by Judge Adam Grant, Judge <br />Clarence Horton and Judge William Hamby. The trees were judged on creativity, originality and <br />overall appearance in four categories: K-2 elementary school, 3-5 elementary school, middle <br />school, and high school. <br /> <br />The winners are first place -- W.R. Odell CK-2) Elementary, Harrisburg Elementary (third year in <br />a row), Northwest Middle, and A.L. Brown High -- second place - Fred L. Wilson (K-2) <br />Elementary, Mt. Pleasant Elementary, Mt. Pleasant Middle, and Central Cabarrus High -- third <br />place - Bethel (K-2) Elementary, Jackson Park Elementary, and Concord High. <br /> <br />First place winners will receive $1,000, second place winners will receive $525, and third place <br />winners will receive $225.
