Memorandum

NO~i~ C~OLIN~

To:

From:

Date:

Subject:

Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
~on~d Moorhead, Personnel Officer
March 1, 1995

Results of Salary Study

A market comparison study of county salaries has been completed as a part of the Personnel
Management Program. Eleanor Poole of the Management and Personnel Services Group will be
available to present the results of the study at the March 6, 1995, meeting of the Board of
Commissioners. She will present her recommendations as well as those of the County Manager's
Office for the County's 275 job classifications.

A summary of the recommendations is as follows:

MAPS GROUP

County Manager's Office

Upgrades 58 56

Downgrades 39 9

There is a large difference in the number of job classifications recommended for downgrades by
the MAPS Group and the County Manager's Office. This is due to the County Manger's Office
leaving those job classifications recommended for a one grade reduction at their current pay
grade. These classifications would be monitored until the next salary study and then a downward
adjustment would be made if data still supports such action.
