Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />January 10, 1995 <br />Page Three <br /> <br /> I wish I had more time to have worked with each member <br />of the Board during this process, but because of the lack of <br />information provided us from CIGNA and other Federal <br />Government agencies that deal with Medicare reimbursement, we <br />are fighting from behind. For years, North Carolina EMS <br />providers have accepted whatever Medicare said. Two years <br />ago through the NCAEMSA, we started questioning their <br />reimbursement procedures. Due to this, our reimbursements <br />were increased some, but not anywhere near in comparison to <br />other states that surround us and across the Nation. NC <br />ranks 50th in ambulance Medicare reimbursement in the nation <br />and we are trying to correct this problem.
