TO: <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />John Witherspoon, County Manager )4~'.¥' .; <br />Jim Cook, Social Services Directb,.(. <br />3-13-95 <br />Cannon Foundation Grant/Budget Amendment <br /> <br /> We were very pleased to learn that the County has been awarded a Cannon <br />Foundation grant in the amount of $50,000 for the Department of Social Services <br />Automated Single Application Project. <br /> <br /> At the time we sought the approval of our Board of Commissioners to apply for <br />this grant, we proposed to utilize $50,000 in savings within the Department's current <br />budget as a "match" for the Cannon grant should we be successful in securing it. (The <br />$100,000 total is the estimated cost of computer programmer services needed to complete <br />the project we have planned). <br /> <br /> Attached is a budget amendment request which would appropriate the Cannon <br />grant and a portion of the Federal revenues we have begun to draw for administrative <br />costs under the Title VI-A Emergency Assistance. <br /> <br /> I would like to request that 1) Mr. Barnhardt announce the County's receipt of the <br />grant, and 2) the attached budget amendment be considered by the Board of <br />Commissioners at the March 20 meeting of the Board. <br /> <br /> I have also attached copies of memo of 1-9-95 to you requesting the BOC <br />authorize our grant application, and the Foundation's award letter dated 3-7-95. <br /> <br />Please advise me of any additional information I may need to submit. <br /> <br />Thank you. <br /> <br /> Department o!
