Cook, Director of the Cabanas County. Department of Social Services, was selected <br />Director of the Year by his peers in the North Carolina Association of Couaty Directors of Social <br />Services on May 4, 1995. <br /> <br />Cithag his advocacy for ftmd~ng critical child welfare services, Mr. Cook was nominated by <br />w,merous peers for this award. He has chaixed the Assoziation's Fiscal Committee for the las~ <br />seven years and is respons~le for pushing the state to develop funding for a variety ofprogram~ <br />helping children and famih'es including Medicaid Case Management, IV-E admini~rative funds <br />and WA-Emergency Assurance funding, which will particularly provide an enormous boost to <br />funding for child welfare services. The funding under WA-Emergency As.4stance will bring <br />much-needed funding to child prot~five services, matched by state appropriations, with the <br />potential for doubliag the state's CPS efforts. The lives ofohildren vdll be saved and the lives of <br />countless children ~ill be changed for the better. This alone is a sign½ficaat aecompli6ment, <br />perhaps a career acco~hpli~hment.
