0 <br /> <br />June14,1995 <br /> <br />Mr. Jerry Newton, <br />Director of Planning, <br />Zoning and Building <br />Inspections <br />PO 707 <br />Concord, NC 28026-0707 <br /> <br />Dear Jerry: <br /> <br />Per your letter dated May 22, 1995 requesting our position regarding <br />various rezoning requests we offer the following: <br /> <br />The EDC Executive Committee met on May 6, 1995 at which time we heard <br />a presentation by Jonathan Marshall concerning two of the three issues <br />mentioned in your letter. <br /> <br />Regarding the other two requests, it was the unanimous consensus of the <br />committee that all the properties involved in the rezoning requests retain <br />their industrial zoning. With particular reference to the Barbee tract, we <br />requested a preliminary engineering review which indicates the property is <br />suitable for industrial applications. <br /> <br />It is our contention that retaining the integrity of Cabarrus County's Land <br />Use Master Plan is crucial to the county's long term economic viability. <br />Therefore, we recommend that the Planning Staff and the Planning and <br />Zoning Board do whatever is appropriate to protect those tracts which can <br />be adapted to industrial uses, particularly within the Interstate 85 corridor. <br /> <br />Thank//~u. <br />i rely, <br /> <br /> GREATER CABARRUS COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />232~ Concord Lake Road, RO.
