CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> ADULT DAY CARE WEEK <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />There are over 3000 Adult Day Centers nationwide and over 70 centers in <br />North Carolina and two centers in Cabarrus County, providing a safe and <br />positive environment to partially disabled individuals in need of daytime <br />assistance or supervision; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Adult Day Care Centers provide opportunities for social interactions to <br />otherwise isolated individuals and assist them in attaining and maintaining a <br />maximum level of independence; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, These centers are bridging the gap between long-term institutionalization and <br /> independent living; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Adult Day Care provides respite and eases the burden of the familial <br /> caregivers who are providing care at home for their loved ones; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County is the home of L.I.F.E. CENTERS, INC., a national model <br />providing quality care in two locations for this special population of older <br />adults. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jeffrey L. Barnhart, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the laws of the <br />County, do hereby proclaim September 17-23, 1995 as: <br /> <br />ADULT DAY CARE WEEK IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />and urge the citizens of Cabarrus County to recognize this event and to participate by paying <br />tribute to the dedicated people who provide this valuable service to older adults. <br /> <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the official seal <br />of the County of Cabarrus this 5th day of September, 1995. <br /> <br />Jeffrey L.
