NO.: 95001.03 SUBJECT: iNTEGRATION OF PARKS/ATHLETIC'FIELDS INTO FACILITY We appreciate your coming to the office today to discuss how we can integrate any desires you may have into the planning of Rocky River Elementary School. Because decisions must be made so quickly on this project due to scheduling requirements, we offer the following as documentation of the discussion: O Concept for Facility - As discussed, the concept for the facility will be to utilize a site and building plan almost identical to the WES project. Therefore, very little can be changed on the site or facility without a direct impact on cost of construction. The facility wilt be oriented to best serve future recreational fields as may be developed by Cabarrus County. Efforts will be made to provide water, sewer, and other infrastmctural provisions to allow for your future construction. The ball fields that will be constructed with the elementary school will be elongated to approximately 200 ft. from home plate. Revisions to the safety security fence behind the baseball diamond will be provided as you give us dimensions. It is our understanding that you will investigate the possibility of enlarging the existing P.E. Room as designed within the building plans. In order to accomplish the increased size of the basketball court from 30' x 70' to 50' x 84', this will require redesign of the entire P.E. space. We guesstimate the design fee to do this will be approximately $10,000 - $15,000. An additional construction cost could be expected of approximately $100,000. If Cabarrus County desires this work to be accomplished, it could be done very easily at this time. Obviously, funds would need to become available to increase the project budget to allow for these changes. We will await your desires conceming the enlargement of the P.E. space to a more full-size gymnasium. If this change is to be accomplished as part of this project, then a decision will need to be made very soon in order to be able to incorporate changes into the design documents.
