Proposal to Establish an Informal Awards Program for Cabarrus County Employees <br /> <br />Purpose: To establish a private enterprise type of awards' program for Cabarrus County <br />employees similar to those that exist in many businesses today. <br /> <br />An informal program would allow a more timely recognition and re-enforcement of notable <br />employee performances, such as: <br /> <br />· Successfully completing a major project; <br />· Consistently perfmming "above and beyond the call of duty"; <br />· Submitting cost saving or efficiency improving ideas; <br />· Or other exceptional job-related performances. <br /> <br />Proposed: A two level informal award program. <br /> <br />· Department Manager's Performance Recognition Award - Awards could be made <br />at anytime in the amount of $50, $75 or $100. Selection of individuals for such <br />recognition will be done by the department manager, but may be based upon <br />recommendations by other department supervisors and employees. <br />Recommended awards w6uld be reviewed by Area Managers. <br /> <br />· County. Manager's Award of Excellence - This award in the amount of $500, can <br />be given at anytime to any employee for superlative performance. While <br />recommendations would be accepted, the County Manager would make the <br />decision as to whom it would be given. An employee that receives a Department <br />Manager's Performance Recognition Award could also receive a County <br />Manager's Award of Excellence. <br /> <br />Funding: Funding has been included in the FY 95-96 budget. <br /> <br />· Total funding is limited for the Department Manager's awards to $9,000 per year, <br />which will be administered by area and senior level managers. <br /> <br />· Total funding for the County Manager's awards will be limited to $2,500 per year. <br /> <br /> <br />
