Pilkington, Health Director

October 9, 1995

MEMO

TO:

FROM:

SUBJECT:

William F. Pilkington

Capitola Stanley

Expansion of Immunization Action Plan

The North Carolina Department of Environment, Health, and Natural
Resources has notified us that we will receive an additional $25,020.70 in
federal and state monies to supplement the activities currently underway in our
childhood immunization program. I propose combining these new dollars with
the remaining WIC/Immunizafion Initiative funds in order to hire a full fime'~
public health nurse who will assist in carrying out the objectives of our
Immunization Action Plan. To accomplish this, I propose that the vacant part
time publie health nursing position be converted to a full time position. I
understand that at this time this funding is guaranteed through June 30, 1996~
If the funding is not continued beyond that date, it would be necessary to
terminate the employment of the nurse hired in this program, ff another
county nursing position were available at the time of termination, the employee
could of course apply for that position.

I also propose using some of these additional dollars to continue the work we
have started in combining all of our records into one centralized patient record
system. Thus, $2,327.88 has been ear marked on the budget revision as a
new line item: IAP Program Expenses.

Eq,al c )pportunity/Afj~rmative Action EmDloyer
