We have discussed this, and I
apologize for the delay in getting this infmmation to you. Since we have eight (8) Homes
for the Aged in Cabarrus County, it appears that we need two more members. As I related
to you by telephone some time ago, it was only when I reviewed the law that I realized we
were deficit in the number of domiciliary home committee members. I also realize that we
just recently were able to "completely" staff this committee with its eight current members
for the very first time; however, we should attempt to get two more members in line with the
law. A good rule of thumb that we as Ombudsmen try to follow is that there should be two
more committee members than the number of nursing home or domiciliary home facilities in
a county. For example, there are five nursing home facilities and seven nursing home
committee members in Cabarrus County. Likewise, there should be ten domiciliary home
members for the eight Homes for the Aged (domiciliary homes) in Cabarrus County.

Should you or an), of the County Co,~issioners have any further questions or com_ments,
please let me know. I recently took about three weeks of personal leave to deal with some
illness in my family and also have had my hours reduced to four days a week. I am usually
in the Charlotte office on Mondays and in the field the remaining three days. So, again,
please accept my apologies for the delay. I am sure we can work through this. Take care
and thank you!

Enclosure: 131D-31, 131D-32, and 131D-33
Domiciliary Home Community Advisory Committees and Functions

CABARRUS COUNTY concord harrisburg kannapolis mount pleasant GASTON COUNTY belmont bessemer city cherryville cramerton dallas
gastonia high shoals lowell mcadenville mount holly ranlo spencer mountain stanley IREDELL COUNTY harmony mooresville statesville
troutman LINCOLN COUNTY lincolnton MECKLENBURG COUNTY charlotte cornelius davidson huntersvilte matthews mint hill pineville
ROWAN COUNTY china grove cleveland faith granite quarry landis rockwell salisbury spencer STANLY COUNTY albemarle badin
locust new london norwood oakboro richfield star, field UNION COUNTY indian trail marshville monroe stallings wingate
