MEMO TO: John Day, Budget Officer FROM:~Henry Waldroup, Utilities Director DATE: January 21, 1994 SUBJECT: PROJECT BUDGET ADJUSTMENTS I started out with a fund of $200,000. the first deduction was $7,843.10 from the projects completed in June 1993, but not billed and deducted from the 92/93 budget. The Plantation Road and Cold springs Road projects were projects that were completed to provide water to areas where wells have failed due to the drought this summer. The total cost of these projects is $23,846.15. The Hopewell Church and Jim Sossoman Road projects are projects approved by the Board of Commissioners. The total project cost is $201,429.00. The Howell Center project is funded by Cabarrus County, the Howell Center and C.D.B.G. funds. The project was bid for the use of both 6" or 8" force main line sizes. The cost of a 6" force main is $542,723.38. This would provide sewer service to some of the drainage basin and eliminate the problem sewer discharge from the Howell Center. The cost of an 8" force main would be $593,921.40. The difference between the six and eight is $51,195. The eight inch force main increases the area drainage capability considerably. The force main in some areas could be used for gravity sewers greatly reducing future sewer line installation cost. The West Oak project along Miller Road and Charlie Walker Road is being built by the owner, Alton Thigpen. He has agreed to install an eight inch water line along Miller Road. The County will pick up the difference between the 6" and the 8" pipe. The cost difference is $6,408.24.
