CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />North Carolina's 100 county governments have in fact served this state since <br />1663, working in partnership with the State to deliver services and provide <br />leadership for our communities; and <br /> <br />Cabarrus County is on the forefront of many issues critical to both our state <br />and nation, including health care, child and elder care, environmental <br />protection, social services, job training, public education, emergency medical <br />services, drug and alcohol abuse treatment, law enforcement, water and <br />sewer services, and library services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County is a major partner in the public education system, having <br />provided $18,036,935 in 1993-94 to support elementary-secondary schools and <br />$519,225 to Rowan-Cabarrus Community College; and of this amount, <br />approximately 26 percent of these dollars helped to fund improved or new <br />school facilities and 74 percent was used to support current operations of <br />schools; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County is working to complete the Coddle Creek Reservoir Project <br />to provide an adequate water supply for all citizens of the county and to <br />construct the Muddy Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant to provide sewer <br />service in the southern part of Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, those serving as county officials are dedicated to providing services to our <br /> citizens without undue burden on the taxpayers. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim April 16 through 23, 1994, as "County Government <br />Week in Cabarrus County" and urges all citizens to be more involved in and aware of issues <br />facing Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />Adopted this 4th day of April, 1994. <br /> <br />Jeffrey L.
