CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Senior Center is a focal point of activities for the
enjoyment and well-being of the many seniors of Cabarrus County; and

WHEREAS,

the generosity of dedicated individuals who gave countless contributions and
donations of time, money and services, and specifically the Lippard family
who so unselfishly donated property for the Center, helped to make the
Senior Center a reality; and

WHEREAS,

on August 31, 1989, Fred W. Lippard, Jr. and his sister, Edna Mae Lippard
Stokes, donated land to Cabarrus County for the purpose of a senior center
as a living memorial to Myrtle Lee Lefler Barnes and husband, George Avery
Barnes; and

WHEREAS,

the donation of this land symbolized the love and loyalty of the Lippard
family for their heritage in Cabarrus County, and demonstrated their care and
concern for the happiness and future well-being of the seniors of the county;
and

WHEREAS,

a ceremony has been planned for May 10, 1994 at the Senior Center for the
dedication of a permanent plaque to memorialize the generous donation by
the Lippard family to Cabarrus County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of
Commissioners hereby proclaims May 10, 1994 as "Lippard Day in Cabarrus County", so that
we may express our appreciation to the Lippard family for their generosity, and to honor
them permanently in the records of this great County.

Adopted this the 2nd day of May, 1994.

Jeffrey L.
