CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Senior Center is a focal point of activities for the <br /> enjoyment and well-being of the many seniors of Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the generosity of dedicated individuals who gave countless contributions and <br />donations of time, money and services, and specifically the Lippard family <br />who so unselfishly donated property for the Center, helped to make the <br />Senior Center a reality; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />on August 31, 1989, Fred W. Lippard, Jr. and his sister, Edna Mae Lippard <br />Stokes, donated land to Cabarrus County for the purpose of a senior center <br />as a living memorial to Myrtle Lee Lefler Barnes and husband, George Avery <br />Barnes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the donation of this land symbolized the love and loyalty of the Lippard <br />family for their heritage in Cabarrus County, and demonstrated their care and <br />concern for the happiness and future well-being of the seniors of the county; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />a ceremony has been planned for May 10, 1994 at the Senior Center for the <br />dedication of a permanent plaque to memorialize the generous donation by <br />the Lippard family to Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners hereby proclaims May 10, 1994 as "Lippard Day in Cabarrus County", so that <br />we may express our appreciation to the Lippard family for their generosity, and to honor <br />them permanently in the records of this great County. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 2nd day of May, 1994. <br /> <br />Jeffrey L.
