PR OCLAMA TION <br /> <br />Cabarrus County <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Many brave men and women of Cabarrus County made tremendous <br />sacrifices to help save the world from tyranny and aggression by serv/ng in the <br />gamed Forces during World War II; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The bells of freedom and the winds of democracy sweeping the globe <br />today spring from the principles for which over four hundred thousand Americans <br />gave their lives in World War II; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, From this date through 1995, many millions of American veterans of <br />World War II will be holding reunions and conferences commemorating the 50TH <br />ANNIVERSARY of many events relating to World War II; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, June 4, 1994, marks the anniversary of the Battle of Midway, and <br />June 6, 1994, marks the 50TH ANNIVERSARY of D-DAY, now therefore, be it <br /> <br />RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners do hereby <br />proclaim Monday, Jtme 6, 19.94, as the <br /> <br />50TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DA Y WORLD WAR H <br /> <br />and call upon our citizens to offer special recognition during this time to those who <br />made the extreme sacrifice, were disable in our nation's service, or who served on <br />active military duty in World War II; and especially remembering that June 6, 1994, <br />is the 50th Anniversary of the Allied Forces landing on the beaches of Normandy, <br />marking the be~-qnning of the end of the war in Europe. <br /> <br />This sixteenth day of May, 1994 <br /> <br />Jeffi~ey L.
