First Draft 5/5/94 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION <br />ADOPTING THE REGIONAL LAND USE VISION <br />CENTERS AND CORRIDORS PATTERN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the believes that all local governments within the <br />Metropolitan Area must work together in order to provide an economically competitive <br />region, livable communities with their identities preserved, and the best in accessibility <br />throughout the area; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recognizes there is a need to endorse a common <br />land use policy and strategy and complimentary transportation investment that will <br />increase growth potential while holding down long-term capital and maintenance costs; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recognizes the preeminence and importance of <br />local initiative and intergovernmental cooperation in planning for regional mobility that <br />includes roads, transit and aviation systems that are interconnected; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a Regional Committee of 100 was commissioned to develop and recommend <br />a Transit and Transportation Policy and Strategy for the Region, and it has endorsed a <br />Centers and Corridors Land Use Vision; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the has been presented this Regional Land Use <br />Vision that calls for major growth to be focused within, or along the Regions' major urban <br />centers and corridors, and is hereby attached; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the on this __ day <br />of__ in the year 1994, that the Regional Land Use Vision developed by the Committee <br />of 100, be adopted as policy to guide and direct our capital investment decisions and local <br />land use planning initiatives, and therefore directs the manager and staffto work towards <br />the implementation of this policy through careful study and coordination with our regional <br />partners. <br /> <br /> <br />
