RESOLUTION <br />ADOPTING THE REGIONAL LAND USE VISION <br />CENTERS AND CORRIDORS PATTERN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners believes that all local <br />governments within the Metropolitan Area must work together in order to <br />provide an economically competitive region, livable communities with their <br />identities preserved, and the best in accessibility throughout the area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners recognizes there is a need to <br />endorse a common land use policy and strategy and complimentary <br />transportation investment that will increase growth potential while holding <br />down long-term capital and maintenance costs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners recognizes the preeminence <br />and importance of local initiative and intergovernmental cooperation in <br />planning for regional mobility that includes roads, transit and aviation systems <br />that are interconnected; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />a Regional Committee of 100 was commissioned to develop and recommend <br />a Transit and Transportation Policy and Strategy for the Region, and it has <br />endorsed a Centers and Corridors Land Use Vision; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners has been presented the <br />Regional Land Use Vision that calls for major growth to focused within, or <br />along the Region's major urban centers and corridors. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />that the Regional Land Use Vision developed by the Committee of 100, be adopted as a <br />policy to help guide and direct our capital investment decisions and local land use planning <br />initiatives, and therefore directs the manager and staff to work towards the implementation <br />of this policy through careful study and coordination with our regional partners. <br /> <br />Adopted this the ~ day of June, 1994. <br /> <br />ATrEST: <br /> <br />Jeffrey L.
