Canaday, Sheriff <br /> <br />July 25, 1994 <br /> <br />Mr. Jeffrey Barnhardt, Chairman <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />Cabarrus County <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Barnhardt: <br /> <br />For the past several months a group consisting of myself, Chief <br />Bob Cansler, Chief Paul Brown, Mr. George Diatzikis, and Mrs. Ann <br />Cannon have been working on the details of establishing a Law <br />Enforcement Memorial for officers killed in the line of duty in <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />We have completed our search for an appropriate design and have <br />solicited the help of Mr. Dennis Yates, who was the architect <br />that designed the Governmental Center, to help select an <br />appropriate site for the memorial. <br /> <br />Please find attached copies of the plans for the design the <br />committee prefers. Thi~ design is currently in place in Guilford <br />County and looks very good. <br /> <br />The location selected by Dennis Yates as the best place to erect <br />the monument is detailed on the attached sheets. The site is to <br />the south of the Governmental Center Building on the grass area <br />at the intersection of Corban Avenue and Church Street. <br /> <br />If the Board of Commissioners approve the concept and gives <br />permission to erect the memorial at the recommended site, the <br />committee is prepared to establish a non-profit group to solicit <br />the needed funds to purchase and erect the memorial. <br /> <br />If at all possible, we would like to be on the County <br />Commissioners agenda for August 15, 1994 to present this <br />information to the board. <br /> <br />If you have any questions about this matter please give me a <br />call. <br /> <br />Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter. <br /> <br />Sheriff <br /> <br /> P.O.
