IlL <br /> <br />cen'tl;~i¥1~a Private Industry Council (PIC) <br /> <br /> 1) <br /> * 2) <br /> 3) <br />Reappointed 4) <br /> <br /> urr nt M mber hi <br /> <br />Cabarrus County has four (4) members on the twenty (20) member <br />Private Industry Council. The Cabarrus County Commissioners will <br />select and approve nominations for PIC members based on the slate <br />of nominations presented by the appropriate agencies and <br />organizations listed under "General Information". Each PIC member <br />is appointed to serve a two-year term. General Information <br /> <br />The Private Industry Council (PIC) membership categories are <br />mandated by Federal legislation. While other individuals may be <br />appointed to replace current members whose terms are expiring, <br />they must be selected from and according to the conditions for the <br />categories listed below. <br /> <br />Private Sector representatives shall be selected from among <br />individuals nominated by general purpose business organizations in <br />the county. The number of nominations shall be at least 150 percent <br />of the number of private sector individuals to be appointed in the <br />county. Such nominations, reasonably represent the industrial and <br />demographic composition of the business community. Whenever <br />possible, at least one-half of such business and industry <br />representatives shall be representatives of small business (500 or <br />fewer employees), including minority business. All private sector <br />representatives must be active with their company or business (non- <br />retiree).' Private sector reprresentatives, who shall constitute a <br />majority of the membership of the PIC, shall be operating officers of <br />nongovernmental employees, or other private sector executives who <br />have substantial management, recruitment, hiring, or policy <br />responsibility. <br /> <br />Education representatives shall be selected from among individuals <br />nominated by local educational agencies, vocational education <br />institutions, institutions of higher education, or general organizations <br />of such agencies and institutions, and by private and proprietary <br />schools or general organizations of such schools in the county. <br /> <br />Labor representatives shall be selected from individuals <br />recommended by recognized State and local labor federations. <br /> <br />The remaining members of The council (Vocational Rehabilitation, <br />Public Assistance, Economic Development, Public Employment <br />Service) shall be selected from individuals recommended by <br />interested organizations. <br /> <br />New Requirement - Representatives of organized labor and <br />community-based organizations shall constitute not less than 15 <br />percent of the membership of the council (Total for all 6 Centralina <br />SDA counties). <br /> <br />The Centralina Private Industry Council meets every other month and <br />makes decisions about the allocation of funds, choice of service <br />providers, monitoring activities, and coordination of various local job <br />training efforts (including JTPA) to further workforce preparedness in <br />the county. <br /> <br /> <br />
