SEQUENCE OF EVENTS <br /> <br />CONCORD MIXED BEVERAGE ELECTION/RECOUNT <br /> <br />1. Election for Concord Mixed Beverage was held on Tuesday, May <br />3, 1994: Unofficial results showed 5,002 votes cast "FOR" the <br />sale of mixed beverages, and 5,003 votes cast "AGAINST" the sale <br />of mixed beverages. <br /> <br />2. The canvas was held on Thursday, May 5, 1994, at 11 o'clock <br />a.m. but at the request of the City of Concord and R. Gene Lentz, <br />granted by the Board, the canvass for Concord Mixed Beverage was <br />deferred pending a recount of the ballots cast. The "Tabulated", <br />unofficial result of the recount showed 5,000 votes cast "FOR" <br />the sale of mixed Beverages and 4,997 votes cast "AGAINST" the <br />sale of mixed beveraqes. A canvass was not held pending the <br />legal acceptance and hearing upon the complaints already received <br />and to be received by the deadline of Saturday, May 7, 1994. <br /> <br />3. The Cabarrus County Board of Elections, by law, opened its <br />office to receive complaints until 6:00 pm Saturday, May 7, 1994. <br />154 complaints were filed in the office between May 3, 1994 and <br />May 7, 1994. <br /> <br />4. Ten days later on Tuesday, May 17, 1994, after evaluating all <br />complaints received but while an audit of the poll books and <br />reconciliation against the count and recount results was still <br /> <br /> <br />
