Through inter-agency collaboration, community agencies were able to <br /> develop resources within the system without asking for additioi{~l resources <br /> from state and county governments. <br /> <br />B. Financial/Service Accomplishments <br /> <br />1. Agencies began utilizing Medicaid funds more effectively to serve at <br /> risk children. <br />2. Accomplished/Developed the following resources: <br /> <br /> a. Established protocol with community agencies in conducting <br /> multi-disciplinary sexual abuse investigations. <br /> b. Began dialogue with Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, law enforcement, <br /> mental health, area physicians and DSS regarding interdisciplinary <br /> sexual abuse investigations utilizing hospital space, etc. <br /> e. Increased the number of Child Medical Exam providers to conduct <br /> physical and sexual abuse exams in Cabarrus County. <br /> d. Local Mental Health Agency obtained a position to conduct Child <br /> Mental Health Evaluations to assist with sexual and emotional abuse <br /> cases. <br />e. CCPT team members have supported agencies in grant writing to seek <br /> additional funding for services. <br />f. Supported Kids Count Day at Charlotte Motor Speedway. <br />g. Co-sponsored Celebration '94. <br />h. Participated in Blue Ribbon Campaign in support of Prevent Child <br /> Abuse Month. <br />i. Participated in various newspaper, radio, and T.V. spots to promote <br /> public awareness. <br />j. Team member was a presenter at the State Child Abuse Conference. <br />k. Team member participated on the planning committee for State CCPT <br /> training conference. <br />1. Team member was a presenter at the State CCPT training for <br /> committee members. <br />m. Pilot county for formation of local. Child Fatality Prevention T~eam. <br />n. Presentation by John Niblock from Child Advocacy Institute regarding <br /> children's issues and upcoming legislation. <br />o. Members traveled to Raleigh to advocate for additional Children's <br /> Protective Services funding. <br />p. Local Mental Health developed a staff position to primarily serve <br /> children involved with DSS to enhance prompt assessments and <br /> ongoing therapy. <br />q. Local Mental Health formed a parenting treatment group for parents <br /> who are substance abusers. <br />r. Meeting with state legislators to discuss emerging children's issues <br /> from a community perspective. <br />s. Provided input into the Smart Start application as several CCPT <br /> members served on the Smart Start Coalition. <br />t. Cabarrus County School System developed a Child Abuse Policy. <br />u. Cabarrus County Schools and DSS established a protocol to assure <br /> the least traumatic intervention with children during school hours. <br /> <br /> <br />
