Cabarrus County <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Worked with facility administrators, residents and families to resolve grievances. <br /> <br />Provided extended technical assistance to family caregivers and residents. <br /> <br />Attended National Citizens' Coalition for Nursing Home Reform Conference in Arlington, Va. <br /> <br /> Planning Activities <br /> <br />Cabarrus County - Continued providing cable TV administration services. <br /> <br />Cabarrus County - Contracted with NCDOT and Cabarrus County for the update of the County's <br />4-year Transportation Development Plan. Began initial research phase of project. Met with <br />county officials for project overview. <br /> <br /> Regional Planning ACtivities <br /> <br />Hosted solid waste meeting for public works, solid waste, and recycling officials. The group <br />discussed flow control, the use of inmate labor, and marketing of recyclable materials. <br /> <br />Our Region Tomorrow - Steering Committee meetings were held on October 6 and 20. <br />Presentations were made by Joe Lesch and Michael Gallis regarding the work of the Committee <br />of 100; by Mark Heath regarding the Carolinas Partnership; and by Mike McLaurin regarding a <br />variety of water-related regional planning programs and studies. The Steering Committee began <br />the process of choosing "study areas" at the October 20 meeting. <br /> <br />Building Permit Project - Ongoing update of current data. Provided custom reports upon <br />request. <br /> <br />Data Center - Continued to monitor and collect statistical information relating to municipalities <br />and counties within the Region and State. Disseminated information upon request to local <br />governments and private sector. <br /> <br />Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) - Co-hosted a 30-hour "Complying with OSHA" Course <br />with the NC League of Municipalities. The course provided a detailed review of the OSHA 1910 <br />General Industry Standards, including a review of compliance checklists that covered records, <br />training, inspections, programs and other OSHA requirements. <br /> <br />Attended a CDBG public hearing in Sanford to advocate a regional distribution of CDBG-CR <br />funds. <br /> <br />Instructed a "Working with the Private Sector" session of the North Carolina Recycling <br />Coordinators course which was held in Morganton. <br /> <br /> <br />
