Harris
Director

Several months ago I discussed with you the need for additional office space in
Adult Probation. These needs arise fr~n the recently enacted Structured Sentencing
laws. Under this Legislation the number of defendants placed on'Supervised Probation
is expected to increase dramatically. As a part of the new sentencing laws, additional
Probation Officer positions have been approved to handle the expected increase in case
loads.

Caba~zus County received 2 a~dditio__nal ~Officers in SeDtember, 1994, with one
Officer having to be located in a break room area with a partition. Two more Officers
have been assigned to Caba~rds County with an effec~ivo dado n~ r~eomh~r, 1994, and
another~fficer designated for March, 1995. At this time we need a minimum of 3 addi-
tional offices to meet our current needs, with 2 of these Officers reporting by the
en~ of December, 1994, and the other in March, 1995.

Your consideration and assistance is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Brenda C.
