TASK FORCE R~COMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />The Task Force recommends the following: <br /> <br />That there must be a joint private/public effort involving county <br />and municipal governments, service organizations, churches, <br />foundations, business and others to address this problem. <br /> <br />Bo <br /> <br />That the community move forward as quickly as possible through a <br />broadened effort in meeting needs of the homeless. <br /> <br />That implementation of the shelter model and array of human <br />services contained in the Task Force report be the goal of the <br />community effort. <br /> <br />D. That management of the homeless shelter remain with CCMo <br /> <br />Eo <br /> <br />That efforts be made by CCM and community churches to expand <br />volunteer manpower, food service and other support systems to <br />expand shelter operations to year-round and to include at least <br />part-day operation° <br /> <br />That the County work with municipalities toward the possibility of <br />jointly funding a case manager position for the shelter as an <br />interim step in the development process. <br /> <br />That the County work with CCM, Salvation Army, the municipalities, <br />law enforcement, Chambers of Commerce, civic organizations, <br />housing authorities and other appropriate groups to establish an <br />implementation committee which would have responsibility for <br />projecting costs, identifying an appropriate shelter facility, <br />identifying and securing funding for use in acquiring/renovating <br />such a facility, determining how additional ongoing operating <br />expenses (e.g., maintenance, utilities) could be funded, and <br />working with the community to assure the development of a shelter <br />plan which will be accepted by the community and viewed as a <br />community resource. <br /> <br />That this Committee facilitate the development of additional <br />services and interagency linkages needed to provide more <br />comprehensive community services to persons experiencing problems <br />with homelessness. <br /> <br />That, because of the pressing needs of our citizens experiencing <br />this problem and because of the inadequacy of existing community <br />facilities and services, these needs be addressed in the 93-94 <br />budgets of the appropriate governments and organizations to the <br />extent possible. <br /> <br />023 <br /> <br /> <br />
