ARTICLE VI. Leaves of Absence Proposed Change <br /> <br />Section 12. Sick Leave <br /> <br /> Ali permanent and probationary employees who are scheduled to work at least 1,000 <br />hours during the calendar year shall receive sick leave in accordance with this policy. Sick leave <br />with pay is not a right which an employee may demand but a privilege granted by the Board of <br />Commissioners for the benefit of an employee when sick. <br /> <br /> Sick leave shall be granted to an employee absent from work for any of the following <br />reasons: sickness, bodily injury, required physical examinations, dental examinations and <br /> <br />treatment, '~:+*' ........." ..... :~ .....c~f ~: .... ~':~ of '~' .... ~ <br /> ~,~ .... ,, ......... ~ ..........oo a ...... ,. ....... , ,.,. .... v,,~j,.,, or exposure to a <br /> <br />contagious disease when continuing work might jeopardize the health of others. <br /> <br /> Sick Leave may also be used when illness, inju~, or a medical appointment of an <br />employee's spouse, child, parent or parent-in-law requires the presence of the employee, <br />but may not exceed fo~-eight (48) hours [sixW-four (64) hours for Emergency Medical <br />Se~ices Personnel] for any one calendar year. <br /> <br /> Sick leave may be used for death in the employee's i~ediate fa~ly, but may not exceed <br />twenty-four (24) hours [thirty-two (32) hours for Emergency Medical Se~ices Perso~el] for any <br />one occu~ence, except by special permission from the department head.
