Little, Director ~c~ Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department Propst/Land Design Development Plan on Coddle Creek Thank you for sending for our review a copy of the Development Plan for a Coddle Creek Planned Development by Propst Brothers Distributors, Inc. and Land Design, Inc. The meeting on Friday, February 5, 1993 with owner Trent Propst, and the two of us provided a good opportunity to discuss the potential greenway concept for this proposed development plan. This proposed Propst's Coddle Creek Development Plan presents a good model with private developers and Cabarrus County Government working jointly together to provide flood plan protection, open space recreation greenway and natural wildlife corridors. Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Master Plan (1990-2005) recommends a system of linear greenways following streams and creeks which, when linked together, form a continuous network of interconnecting corridors throughout the county. These linear open spaces or greenways are to be left in their natural state except for the development of trails for use by walking or jogging pedestrians and bike users. Through the year 2005 Cabarrus County proposed plans are to develop approximately fifteen miles of greenway connections from Northwest District or Lake Concord area to Frank Liske Park. The routing would generally go from North Cabarrus or Lake Concord Area, follow Cold Water Creek and the Rocky River, then go North along Coddle Creek to Frank Liske Park. Two future greenway extensions would provide access to the Coddle Creek Reservoir and the Mt. Pleasant District Park site.
