RESOLUTION REGARDING THE POSSIBLE <br />MERGER OF THE CITY OF CONCORD AND THE <br />PARKWOOD SANITARY DISTRICT <br /> <br /> The Board of Aldermen of the City of Concord and the Board of Commissioners of the <br />Park'~vood Sanitary District, having considered the matters set forth herein, to wit <br /> <br /> 1. That the Parkwood Sanitary District is wholly located within the present bounr~aries <br />of the City of Concord. <br /> <br /> 2. That the Board of Aldermen of the City of Concord will provide a grant in the <br />following budget year the sum of $10,000.00 to the Pierlmont Farmers Market, a tax-exempt <br />nonprofit corporation. <br /> <br /> 3. That the Board of Aldermen of the City of Concord will spend within two years <br />following any merger of the City of Concord and the Parkwood Sanitary District an amount in <br />excess of the existing surplus retained by the Parkwood Sanita~ District for improvements in the <br />water and sewer system lines within the area which constitutes the Parkwood Sanitary District. <br /> <br /> And the Board of Aldermen of the City of Concord and the Board of Commissioners of <br />the Parkwood Sanitary District having dete~,,,l~ed that it is advisable to call for an election within <br />both the sanitary district and thc city to dete~mlne if the city and the sanitary district should <br />merge, <br /> <br /> " NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Aldermen of the City of <br />Concord and the Board of Commissioners of the Parkwood Sanitary District hereby agree that <br />it is advisable to call an election within both the sanitary district and the city to determine if the <br />sanitary district and the city should merge, and <br /> <br /> FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Concord and <br />the Board of Commissioners of the Parkwood Sanitary District hereby request that the Board of <br />Commissioners for Cabarms County, North Carolina, hold an election on September 21, 1993 <br />on the question of merger, with the Cabarrus County Board of Elections giving due notice as <br />required in N.C.G.S. 163-33(8), and providing ballots for the election in substantially the <br />following fo~ tn: <br /> <br /> FOR merger of the City of Concord and the Parkwood Sanitary District, if a <br />majority of the registered voters in both the Sanitary District aad the City vote in favor of the <br />merger, the combined territories to be known as the City of Concord, and to assnme all of the <br /> <br />q <br /> <br /> <br />
