In-home services 1/2-time social worker position could be eliminated and full-time in-home services coordinator could be reduced to 1/2-time. Vacant 1/2-time program coordinator position could be eliminated and duties absorbed by Recreation and Aging staff. Weatherization crew could perform some County maintenance and repair, leading to some savings for work currently contracted out and through active preventive maintenance. 3. Recreation staff's programming expertise could enhance senior activities and general use of Senior Center, producing additional revenues. 4. No imposition on current senior activities at center. This could be ensured by adopting operating policies at the Senior Center such as the following: 80% of ali daytime programming will be oriented toward seniors. A pre-enrollment period for seniors only will be held prior to general enrollment for all programs. Reservations for use of Senior Center facilities by outside organizations may be made no more than six months in advance. Any physical improvements or modifications to the Senior Center and grounds will be oriented toward seniors. If desired, savings realized could be used to provide additional funding for the Transportation and Nutrition Programs and to develop a mini park and nature trails at the Senior Center. Disadvantages: 1. Possible resentment and feeling of loss of ownership among some Senior Center patrons.
