Witherspoon, County Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Recycling Contract <br /> <br /> BFI has been contacted with respect to its picking up the recycling contract and <br />performing that service through the contract period for the regular trash pick-up. (about 2 <br />1/2 years left) <br /> <br /> Under those conditions they will charge $2.06 a pick-up. This compares to the <br />current figure of 97¢ and would mean a monthly increase from $15,700 to $28,800. <br /> <br /> Our other option is to bid recycling--a process that could take 2 to 4 months during <br />which Container Corporation will certainly allow service to go even further downhill. <br /> <br /> My choice is to go with BFI and bid the two contracts together in the future. <br /> Please let me know your stance oa this as soon as possible. <br /> <br />JVW/sb <br /> <br /> <br />
