Cabarrus County Page 3 Planning Activities Cabarrus County - Americans with Disabilities Act - Continued to provide technical assistance to the county regarding barrier removal plans, transportation and employment issues. Regional Activities Solid Waste Management - Continued to pursue and develop a collection program for syringes used at home. Several pharmacies in the Region are now offering a collection system for used sharps. Continued to conduct monthly meeting for solid waste managers, recycling coordinators and public works personnel, to discuss current topics, provide legislative updates, disseminate information and address current concerns. Building Permit Project - Continued preparation of Third Quarter Report. Collection of 1990-92 information ongoing. Data Center - Continued to monitor and collect statistical information relating to municipalities and counties within the Region and State. Disseminated information upon request to local governments and private sector. Began efforts to develop County Profiles of statistical information. Regional Planners Meeting - Danny Crew, Gastonia's City Manager, made a presentation on his experiences as both a planner and a manager. Ken Wright, of the United States Census Bureau, gave a report on the proposed federal legislative changes which would affect local governments and their ability to receive Census data. Emergency Services Activities Regional Activities Attended Carolinas Counties Coalition meeting. Planned and held the City/County Managers' Meeting. W~ter Related A~ivitles Attended Bi-State Catawba River Task Force conference. Continued work on the Bi-State Catawba River Task Force's slide show, brochure and newsletter. Processed Yadkin-Pee Dee Stream Monitoring payments to the participating COGs. Planned and conducted monthly meeting of the Lake Wylie Marine Commission.
