Box 707 <br />Concord, NC 28026-0707 <br /> <br />Dear John: <br /> <br /> In a regular meeting rescheduled for November 17, 1993, the Cabarrus County Parks and <br />Recreation Commission took action on the following items: <br /> <br /> In the first item on the agenda under old business, the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />discussed in great detail the proposed relocation of the Parks and Recreation Department to <br />Frank Liske Park. The Parks and Recreation Commission approved to request an agenda place <br />on the December 6 meeting of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. The Commission <br />voiced their support for a good central location such as the old Clara Harris School Site. <br />Commission Chairman Giles Goodman and 2nd Vice-Chairman Celie Richardson will jointly <br />present this request before the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners on December 6th. <br /> <br /> In the second item on the agenda, the Commission approved a plan to address the <br />Cabarrus County and Kannapolis Boards of Education on December 13 seeking their support for <br />a school-park concept. The Commission also suggested the establishment of a task force to <br />study how to develop these school parks. The Commission discussed the development of Park <br />Bond Proposal to go with the May School Bond Referendum. The 1991 Parks and Recreation <br />Master Plan recommends for the county to go for two $3 million bonds to develop two large <br />district parks and greenways. The Commission indicated the Master Plan would serve as the <br />capital plan, but also notes that the school-park issue could change or modify these plans. <br /> <br /> In the first agenda item under new business, the Commission approved the five <br /> nominations for the three positions on the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission. <br /> On September 3, 1991, Glenn Troutman was appointed to represent A.T.Allen-Wolf Meadow <br /> School Districts. On September 26, 1991, the Parks and Recreation Commission recommended <br /> the feasibility of changing the Commission's representatives from school districts to a township <br /> composition.
