C. 28026-0707 <br />Phone (704) 788-8180 Fax (704) 788-9876 <br /> <br />December 6, 1993 <br /> <br />To: <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />John Day, Budget Officer <br /> <br />Lila Fister, Director <br /> <br />Approval of Medical Supply Increase <br /> <br />I am requesting approval of an increase of medical supplies from <br />cost plus 75% to cost plus 150% effective January 1, 1994. ** <br /> <br />On November 22, 1993, the Home Health Advisory Board approved the <br />mark-up of medical supplies taken into the patients' homes by field <br />staff from cost plus 75% to cost plus 150%. <br /> <br />The proposed new rate will be reimbursed by private payers. The <br />revenue expected from the new rate will be approximately $8,000 <br />annually. <br /> <br />Currently, the average cost to provide indigent care is $54.00 per <br />visit. The profits generated from the new rate will help the <br />Agency to subsidize indigent care. Last fiscal year, the Agency <br />provided $70,542 in indigent care to residents of Cabarrus County. <br />Of the $70,542, the Agency funded $33,675 and the state funded <br />$36,867. <br /> <br />** SUPPLY M~kRK-UP TO BE EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 1994 <br /> <br /> <br />
