1993 <br />CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATING CONTEST <br /> <br />Students from eight Cabarrus County Schools and three Kannapolis <br />City Schools participated in the second annual Public School Tree <br />Decorating Contest sponsored by Cabarrus County Government. The <br />trees are on display in the lobby on the first floor of the <br />Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Judging of the trees was held Wednesday, December 15, 1993, by <br />Judge Adam Grant, Judge Clarence Horton, and Doris Rogers, Home <br />Economics Extension Agent with the Cooperative Extension Service. <br />The twelve trees were judged on creativity, originality and overall <br />appearance in four categories: Elementary School (Grades K-2); <br />Elementary School (Grades 3-5); Middle School, and High School. <br /> <br />The winners are: <br /> <br />ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (Grades K-2) <br />1 - Fred L. Wilson <br />2 - Royal Oaks <br /> <br />MIDDLE SCHOOL <br />1 - Mount Pleasant <br />2 - Northwest Cabarrus <br /> <br />ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (Grades 3-5) <br /> <br />1 - Harrisburg <br />2 - Fred L. Wilson <br />3 - Jackson Park <br />4 - Winecoff <br /> <br />HIGH SCHOOL <br />1 - Mount Pleasant <br /> <br />The first place winners will each receive a computer or other <br />technology equipment valued at up to $1,400; each second place will <br />receive computer software or other technology equipment valued up <br />to $525; each third place will receive computer software or other <br />technology equipment valued up to $225. Due to only two schools in <br />the K-2 elementary category, a fourth place winner was added to the <br />elementary (3-5) category. They will also receive computer software <br />or technology equipment valued up to $225. All equipment must be <br />included in the technology plan for the school. <br /> <br />The County would like to thank all the students who participated. <br />and invite the public to come in and see the trees. <br /> <br /> <br />
