MEET THE COURTS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM

Judge Adam Grant has requested approval to submit a grant application to the
Cannon Foundation, Inc. for funds in the amount of $12,000 to be used to purchase
audiovisual equipment for the Meet the Courts and Law Enforcement Program. The
estimated cost of the equipment, which will include television monitors and projection
equipment, is approximately $15,000. The $12,000 in grant funds will be used with $3,000
in County funds already included in the Courts budget to purchase the necessary
equipment.

The equipment is requested for the Meet the Courts and Law Enforcement
Program which is presented to all ninth graders in the two school systems. There are
approximately 1,400 students who will attend the program in groups of 200. In addition,
this equipment will be available for use with other programs.

It is requested at this time that the Board authorize the submission of an
application to the Cannon Foundation, Inc., for $12,000 in grant funds to be used with
$3,000 in budgeted County funds to purchase the television monitors and projection
equipment for the Meet the Courts and Law Enforcement Program.
