December 10, 1991

Mr. John Witherspoon
County Manager
Cabarrus County
Concord, NC 28025

Dear Mr. Witherspoon:

Upon the advisement of Ms. Susie Bonds, the Council on Aging
Advisory Board had five members whose terms are expiring December
31, 1991. The executive committee of the Advisory Board met and
reco~ended all five present members be considered for
reappointment if each member agrees to accept. However, two of the
five members have resigned from the Advisory Board.

The current members that will accept a reappointment are: Donna
Udovich, Coy Privette and Bill Nichols. We have two vacancies to
be filled with new members. The Advisory Board recommends one
vacancy be filled by a person from the Mt. Pleasant area. The
board did not recommend a person from that area to fill one
vacancy, but I have an application submitted by Mayor Ralph Austin
of Mt. Pleasant.

The other vacancy was filled by a person from the Midland area
which was Mr. Freeman Jones. He wrote me a note explaining he
could not accept another reappointment. (See enclosure.) This
vacancy should be filled by someone from that area if possible.
I have 2 applications -- one from Marian G. Little. Her
applications specifies she is a homemaker, which makes it possible
for her to serve on this advisory board. I also have an
application from Mr. Frank Herrin who is retired.

The Advisory Board feels the County Commission Board will appoint
qualified persons from submitted applications to fill these
vacancies.

Please address this item on the Board's next agenda to reappoint
the three current members and to appoint two new members.

If you have questions or need more information, please give me a
call.

Sincerely, ** In addition, William G. Alexander resigned
from the Advisory Council on December 17 and
~ ~ ~~ an appointment to complete an unexpired term
~ . ending December 31, 1991 would need to be made.
Sharon B. Ritchie, Interim Director
Cabarrus County Department of Aging

Enclosure

Department of Aping
P.O.
