REGION F <br /> <br /> NURSING HOME <br />COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEES <br />(NHCAC) <br /> ELIGIBILITY :FOR MEMBERSHIP <br /> <br />reside in the county. <br /> <br />May not have financial interest in any nursing homes or have immediate <br />family with financial interest in a nursing home. <br /> <br />May not have a member of the immediate family in a nursing home in the <br />county. (Immediate family is defined as mother, father, sister, brother, <br />spouse, child, grandparent or in-laws of the abjure.) <br /> <br />May not be employed or have immediate family employed in a county nursing <br />home or serve on a governing board of a facility. <br /> <br />May not be a County Commissioner. (Commissioners may only be' appointed <br />in an ex officio capacity.) <br /> <br />Shou]d be willing to serve an initial one year term. <br /> <br />Sbou]d be available to attend quarterly business meetings and to visit homes <br />regularly. (Usually these are held during the day.) <br /> <br />Should have transportation to meetings and facilities. <br /> <br />Should be interested in. older adults, particularly those who are frail and <br />isolated. <br /> <br />Should be able to communicate with residents of nursing homes, <br />administrators and the general public. <br /> <br />Must be willing to attend an initial orientation session and follow up <br />training provided by the Regional Ombudsman. <br /> <br />Should be willing to volunteer a minimum of eight hours a month. <br /> <br />Special care should be taken to see that persons with the interest, the time and the <br />willingness to serve are appointed. To the extent possible, committees should be <br />composed of persons that represent a wide range of backgrounds including those with <br />interest in the concerns of o]der adults and demonstrated involvement in the <br />community. <br /> <br />One third of all appointments ~e to be nominated by nursing home administrators. If <br />the administrators fail to make a nomination within 45 da.~ after written notification, <br />such appointments may be made by the commissioners. <br /> <br />Committee members completing the initial term may be reappointed for a three year <br />term. (You may contact The Regional Ombudsman to determine if the committee <br />member has been active and effective.) <br /> <br /> <br />
