STATE OR NORTH CAROLINA <br />COUNTY OF CABARRUS <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, General Statute 105-286(a)(2) requires all real <br />property be appraised at least once every eight years; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the same statute allows any county that desires to <br />conduct an earlier revaluation may do so upon adoption of a <br />resolution so providing; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Board desires to advance the scheduled <br />revaluation effective date from January 1, 1999 to January 1, 1995 <br />as per General Statute 105-286; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Board desires to seek fairness and.equity in the <br />distribution of the tax burden in future years (after the January <br />1, 1995 effective date) by performing revaluations every four <br />years, the first of these to be effective January 1, 1999. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners <br />of Cabarrus County as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. That in accordance with the provisions of General Statute <br />105-286, this Board advances the current scheduled octennial <br />reappraisal to be effective January 1, 1995. <br /> <br /> 2. That the effective dates of all revaluations after January <br />1, 1995 be advanced to be effective every four years (the first of <br />which is effective January 1, 1999). <br /> <br /> 3. That this Board states that adequate funds are available <br />to begin and complete the upcoming revaluation by January 1, 1995. <br /> <br /> 4. That the Cabarrus county Finance Director is directed to <br />establish the Reappraisal Fund in such a manner that adequate funds <br />will be available to conduct reappraisals every four years aft.~r <br />January 1, 1995 (the first to be effective January 1, 1999). <br /> <br /> 5. That this Board seeks the approval of both requests of this <br />resolution by the North Carolina Department of Revenue. <br /> <br />Adopted this 3rd day of February, 1992. <br /> <br />ATTESTED BY: <br /> <br />CAROLYN B.
