connections to the ether system's water and/or sewer <br />lines, without the express, written permission of the <br />other. <br /> <br /> (b) New service areas are defined as those areas <br />where service would be provided by either party with <br />water and/or sewer lines not installed at the time the <br />agreement is executed. Minimum connection requirements <br />for extension of service areas are as follows: <br /> <br />1. Water: <br /> <br /> (a) 6-inch or larger as required to <br />provide fire protection as per state <br />standards. <br /> <br /> (b) 2-inch minimum to serve dead-end <br />connections, maximum length of line and <br />number of customers must meet state standards <br />for proximity to facilities providing fire <br />protection. <br /> <br />2. Sewer: Re gravity sewer collection line <br />less than 8-inch diameter. Interceptors and <br />force mains shall be sized to meet state <br />standards. <br /> <br /> (c) Any new connection off existing CABARRUS <br />lines shall provide backflow prevention devices <br />designed for the specific hazard and meeting the <br />requirements cf CABARRUS' Backf!ow Prevention Program. <br /> <br />9. User or Other Charges. <br /> <br /> (a) Neither KAh~NAPOLIS nor CABARRUS shall charge <br />the other a "transit," "transportation," <br />"distribution," "maintenance," "user," or other such <br />fee or charge whether denominated as such or otherwise, <br />for the use of the other party ' s system for <br />transportation, distribution, discharge or other <br />transmission of water or sewer. <br /> <br /> (b) Paragraph 4 of the "Agreement to Supply <br />Treated Water" dated November 20, 1989, by and between <br />KAA~,~APOLIS and CABARRUS is hereby amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> 4.
