CANA AY r 911 Steering Committee Chairman APRIL 9, 1992 SUBJECT: 911 IMPLEMENTATION PROGRESS REPORT Attached please find the Master Schedule for the Cabarrus County 911 system. Some of the target dates have elapsed without completion of the tasks but this is of no major concern. All persons involved in this project feel that we are on track at this time and see no problem in meeting the October 1, 1992 implementation date. We have made great progress in correcting street name and house numbers and continue to work on this area of the system. This will be an ongoing process that will have to be continued even after the system is up and running. We are getting outstanding support from the U.S. Post Office, the Concord Telephone Company, the various utilities companies and Cable Vision that serve Cabarrus County in verifying and getting residents to obtain their house numbers. We have planned several programs that will further verify our numbering systems. These include requesting the volunteer fire departments to review the street names and house number ranges in all the fire districts and point out all discrepancies to us. Further, we are exploring the possibility of producing a card to be sent out to all property owners utilizing this years tax billing automated addressing that will advise all property owners of the importance of proper house numbering and street names and will include illustrations of the proper posting of those numbers to meet the house numbering ordinance. As we get closer to the actual target date for completion of the system we plan to have extensive media public service announcements regarding house number posting and procedures for the 911 service.
